What is the APL Open Platform Lift, and who is it best for?
The APL Open Platform Lift is designed for low-rise access where a fully enclosed lift is unnecessary, carrying up to 385kg. The right choice depends on the users, loads, route, available space and building constraints, so Alliance should confirm suitability through a site survey and written specification.
How much space and building work does the APL Open Platform Lift need?
The APL Open Platform Lift has a compact footprint and is configured to suit the site. It needs very little builders' work and can be floor mounted, so no pit is required.
What can the APL Open Platform Lift carry, and what is its load capacity?
The capacity is up to 385kg. If a greater capacity is required, our APL Prestige Platform Lift is available with 500kg as standard and up to 1,000kg as an option.
What happens to the APL Open Platform Lift during a power cut or fault?
Like our other vertical platform lifts, the APL Open Platform Lift includes battery-powered emergency lowering and an auto-dialler or telephone. The full procedure will be demonstrated upon handover.
Can the APL Open Platform Lift support Part M and Equality Act accessibility requirements?
Yes, the APL Open Platform Lift can be supplied as Part M compliant provided the correct specification is met and site conditions allow it.
When is an open platform lift preferable to an enclosed lift?
An open platform lift suits low-rise access where a compact, visually open solution is appropriate and a full cabin is unnecessary. An enclosed cabin lift may be preferable for longer travel, exposed locations or users who would feel more secure in a cabin.
What travel, entry and finish options are available for the APL Open Platform Lift?
The APL Open Platform Lift offers up to 3m of travel between two stops, with straight-through or 90° corner entry and a 1,100 x 1,400mm platform as standard (900 x 1,400mm also available). Manually operated gates are standard, with automatic operators optional, and the platform comes in grey metallic with optional indirect RGB LED lighting. Final travel, gate arrangement, clear openings, platform size and finishes are recorded in the project specification after survey.

The cost of an APL Open Platform Lift depends on travel, platform size, gates, finishes, and any builder or electrical works. A site survey allows Alliance to price the actual configuration and state exactly what is included.
What servicing, warranty and project documentation come with the APL Open Platform Lift?
The APL Open Platform Lift is backed by a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty (subject to our terms and conditions), with ongoing maintenance and 24/7 emergency call-out support available. The warranty term, service frequency and documents supplied at handover, such as drawings, manuals and declarations, are confirmed in writing for your project.
