The APL Inclined Platform Lift follows the line of your stairs, giving wheelchair users safe access without the need for a vertical lift shaft.

Intermediate landings can be overcome with a curved travel rail, and rails can be mounted directly onto walls or attached to steel stanchions.

The lift is powered by batteries between stops, so it remains operational even in the event of a power failure.

The APL Inclined Platform Lift carries wheelchair users up straight or curved staircases in public and private buildings, inside or out, and can be fitted with a fold-down seat for users with impaired mobility. The right choice depends on the users, loads, route, available space and building constraints, so Alliance should confirm suitability through a site survey and written specification.
How much space and building work does the APL Inclined Platform Lift need?
The APL Inclined Platform Lift runs on stainless steel rails mounted directly onto the wall or on steel stanchions, following straight or curved staircases with inclines from 6° to 47° (50° optional). When folded it projects just 255–315mm, and it needs a minimum stair width of 850–1,190mm depending on platform size and mounting. Exact rail routes, fixing points and remaining stair widths are project-specific. A survey should verify measured space, fixing points, access for installation and any builder or electrical works before the design is signed off.
What can the APL Inclined Platform Lift carry, and what is its load capacity?
The standard carrying capacity is 225kg, or 300kg as an option, with platform sizes from 800 × 650mm to 1,300 × 800mm.
What happens to the APL Inclined Platform Lift during a power cut or fault?
The APL Inclined Platform Lift runs on batteries between stops, so it keeps working during a power cut. If it isn't recharged for a long period, it switches off automatically to protect the batteries. It also has an emergency call button, electrical emergency operation and an optional two-way emergency call system. The full procedure will be demonstrated upon handover.
Can the APL Inclined Platform Lift support Part M and Equality Act accessibility requirements?
Yes, the APL Inclined Platform Lift can be supplied as Part M compliant provided the correct specification is met and site conditions allow it. The project team should assess the Equality Act 2010, relevant Building Regulations guidance, applicable lift standard, fire strategy, circulation space and user needs.
Will the APL Inclined Platform Lift block the staircase when it is not in use?
The platform folds to just 255–315mm and can park at the top or bottom of the stairs, keeping the staircase clear when not in use. The remaining stair width is site-specific, so the survey drawings will show the folded projection and confirm escape-route clearances with Building Control.
