Goods lifts used at work must also be thoroughly examined and maintained in line with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).

How much space and building work does the APL Goods Scissor Lift need?
The APL Goods Scissor Lift is built to suit the site. It needs a pit whose depth depends on the travel (minimum 190mm), or it can be floor mounted with a ramp, and an enclosure is required for travel over 3m. Power is 415V three-phase, or 240V single-phase for capacities under 2,000kg. On suitable projects it can be installed below ground. Exact dimensions, pit, structural support and openings are project-specific. A survey should verify measured space, fixing points, access for installation and any builder or electrical works before the design is signed off.

What happens to the APL Goods Scissor Lift during a power cut or fault?
In the event of a power cut, the APL Goods Scissor Lift, if fitted with a battery backup, can lower to the bottom floor, allowing the attendant (if present) to exit the lift. An alarm and autodialler are also available, and the full procedure will be demonstrated upon handover.
What inspections and workplace regulations apply to the APL Goods Scissor Lift?
Goods lifts used at work fall under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), which require a thorough examination by a competent person at least every 12 months, and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), which cover safe use, maintenance and training. The APL Goods Scissor Lift is designed to carry goods, not passengers. We can service the lift and help you keep the right records, and we’ll confirm the requirements for your site during survey.

Yes. The APL Goods Scissor Lift can be installed below ground with its roof finished to match the surrounding paving, so bins are hidden when not in use. Feasibility depends on drainage, waterproofing, structural design and how the surface above is used, so this requires a bespoke survey and engineered design.
What travel, entry and finish options are available for the APL Goods Scissor Lift?
The APL Goods Scissor Lift offers up to 6m of travel with single, through, adjacent, three- or four-sided entry, and interlocked swing gates with three-bar barriers at 1,100mm. It's powder coated in RAL 7014 or 9005 as standard, with other colours available. Final travel, stops, door arrangement, clear openings, platform size and finishes are recorded in the project specification after survey.
