The challenge
The college needed step-free access between two floors of a teaching building that had no lift shaft.
The lift had to go into an existing building with as little structural work as possible, and suit busy daily use by students and staff.
Our solution: Elite Cabin Lift
We installed an APL Elite Cabin Lift in a free-standing steel structure, cutting back the first floor so the structure could pass through. It needed only a 120mm pit. The lift carries 400kg (five persons) over 3,247mm, with 900mm automatic telescopic doors on both floors.
The structure is clad in RAL 7005 grey panels. A GSM autodialler with remote monitoring, voice announcement and LCD displays are fitted, and the lift returns to a floor automatically if the power fails.
