The challenge
This district council leisure centre links its main concourse with the sports hall below.
The council wanted to replace the ageing platform lift between the two levels while keeping the staircase open.
Our solution: Chain-Driven Platform Lift
We removed the old lift, cut back the stairwell wall to widen the opening and made good. A 500kg APL Chain-Driven Platform Lift was installed in the same footprint, finished in white powder coat.
It has a glazed half-height gate at the concourse and a full-height glazed door at sports hall level, with fire drive, battery lowering and a GSM autodialler. It was completed in January 2026.
