The challenge
A sports organisation’s headquarters occupies open-plan office floors in a multi-storey building on Cromwell Road.
The client needed step-free access between two office floors beside the feature staircase. The lift had to stand on its own structure within the stairwell, keep clear routes for stair users and suit a high-end office fit-out.
Our solution: Traction Platform Lift
We installed an APL Traction Platform Lift in a freestanding shaft glazed on all four sides, with the shaft, platform and doors powder coated in RAL 9005 black to match the interior. It carries 500kg over 3,760mm and sits in a 60mm recess on an engineer-approved steel base frame, with no machine room.
Glazed power-operated doors, fire recall, an induction loop and voice announcements are fitted. The lift was witness-tested by an independent consultant in July 2025.
