The challenge
This veterinary college campus in Hertfordshire has accommodation buildings reached by open external walkways.
The college needed to replace the ageing platform lifts serving its Pavilion buildings, and add step-free access at a second building nearby.
Our solution: Screw-Driven Platform Lift
We managed the strip-out of the old lifts and the builders’ work to enlarge the entrances, then installed APL Screw-Driven Platform Lifts in fully enclosed shafts serving four levels. Each travels 8,545mm from a 75mm pit, with red glazed landing doors, weatherproofing, fire homing and a GSM autodialler.
At a second building we installed an APL Hydraulic Platform Lift with a 1,100 x 1,400mm platform over a 1,373mm rise. The work was completed in September 2025.
