The brief

The challenge

This self-storage facility in Tottenham, north London, stores customers’ belongings over three floors.

As part of the building’s fit-out as a self-storage facility, it needed a goods lift big enough for trolleys and bulky items between all three floors.

Installation

The build

With the floor openings enlarged to 2,470 x 2,180mm, our engineers erected a self-supporting steel structure, then fitted the drive system, landing doors and car. Work started on 22 June and the lift was fully tested and commissioned within two weeks.

Our solution: Traction Goods Lift

We installed an APL Traction Goods Lift serving three floors over 5,170mm of travel. The 2,000 x 2,000mm car carries up to 1,000kg, and double hinged landing doors give a 1,900mm clear opening for trolleys and large items.

The lift needed no pit, just a 100mm ramp at the ground floor, and its self-supporting structure meant no separate lift shaft had to be built.
