Our Lifts

Frequently asked questions
Do I have enough space in my property for a lift?

With a product range that’s designed around versatility, we can build a platform lift that’s crafted specifically to your requirements and the space you have available. Give us a call today to discuss your needs.

What is the maximum weight that can be carried?

The standard weight capacity for a vertical platform lift is 400kg. The maximum weight capacity for our lifts is 1,500kg, therefore we can tailor our solution to meet your specific requirements.

What headroom (height above the top floor) is required?

The required headroom varies for each lift model, however, this is usually somewhere between 2,200mm and 2,300mm for our vertical platform lifts and 2,600mm/2,700mm for our APL1 Elite Cabin Lift and APL2 Heavy Duty Cabin Lift complete with automatic sliding doors and single press operation.

What is the maximum travel (floor height) of a vertical lift?

The maximum travel of our vertical lifts varies for each model, however, the maximum for our range is 18m.

Do all the doors need to be on the same side as each other?

No. Our lifts offer a high level of configurational flexibility and can be specified with multiple entry and exit arrangements to suit the building layout and access requirements. Available configurations include:

  • Single entry (access and exit from the same side)

  • Through car (entry on one side and exit directly opposite)

  • Adjacent entry (entry and exit at 90 degrees)

  • Three-sided entry (access available from three sides of the lift)

These options allow the lift to be integrated efficiently into complex floor plans while supporting safe, convenient circulation within both residential and commercial buildings.

What if my property is a grade listed building?

We are specialists in the design and installation of vertical platform lifts in historic and grade listed buildings – we’ve even installed lifts fit for royalty!

We have extensive knowledge in this area and can provide all the technical information you need for a planning application. We also work with a number of specialist architects and planners who will be happy to assist.

Can we have wooden doors to match our existing doors?

Yes – our APL3 Hydraulic Drive Platform Lift and our APL6 Prestige Platform Lift are both available to be  integrated with clients doors.

Can we fit a platform lift through the centre of a stairwell?

Yes – we require as little as 700mm wide to install our compact APL1 Elite Cabin Lift! Our platform lift are another great alternative offering bespoke sizing and freestanding shafts. We can even glaze on all four sides for a cool contemporary look.

What is the maximum speed of a vertical platform lift?

The maximum legal speed is 0.15 meters per second.

Can I have sliding doors on a vertical platform lift?

Yes – our APL1 cabin platform lift is available with automatic sliding doors and single press operation much like a typical passenger lift but with minimal pit and headroom requirements!

Do we need a pit to have a vertical platform lift or home lift fitted?

No – although we prefer a small pit (between 60mm and 120 mm deep), we can easily fit a small ramp if this is not possible.

Will you carry out the required builders work?

We can either work with your chosen builder or we can carry out all the work ourselves. Our complete turn key solution keeps project timing to a minimum and our dedicated Project Manager will keep you informed at every stage of the process.

Can I fit a platform lift in an existing shaft?

Yes – Our APL1 model can be installed within an existing shaft and comes complete with a lift car, a choice of swing or sliding doors and single press operation.

How long does it take to install a vertical platform lift?

The lead time from order through to installation can vary depending on the product. In some urgent cases we have manufactured and installed lifts within a few weeks! The fitting process again depends on the type of lift but most installations generally take between 2 and 5 days, depending on the complexity of the project.

Do I need three phase power?

No – all of our platform lifts run off single phase 240v power supply. For the heavier duty requirements – 1,000kg+ three phase power will be required.

What if I get stuck in the lift?

All of our vertical platform lifts come with battery-powered emergency lowering, which will slowly lower the platform to the ground floor in the event of a power outage. In addition, all our lifts are fitted with an emergency communication device directly linked to our 24/7 service and maintenance team.
