Student accommodation
This 24-storey student accommodation located in North Acton, London, offers 497 rooms in a mix of studios and shared apartments. Student facilities such as a gym, common room and games area are also provided. As there are so many activities going on within the bustling accommodation, the lifts are in frequent use. Therefore, they will inevitably require a replacement from time to time.
The Brief
The client contacted us regarding a 1000kg platform lift that had experienced significant wear and tear, as well as flood damage. The lift required replacement, and the client requested a more robust solution better suited to the demanding usage—specifically for transporting bins and bicycles to the basement.
Working with the client and consultants, Alliance Platform Lifts provided a spec for our heavy duty cabin lift in open through configuration complete with 1000kg capacity, vandal resistant sliding doors and fully enclosed cabin with single press operation..
The Result
The replacement took place while the accommodation was still in use and it was requested that Alliance carry out all associated builders works. This included hoardings, diamond drilling pit excavation, existing lift removal, installation, all making good with key access control.
The Lift that was installed was fitted with vandal resistant doors, bump rails, chequer plate flooring and increased height cabin controls to avoid damage from bins. The lift was then fully witness tested and handed over to the client with the project duration of 4 weeks.
